Celebrate National Astronomy Day with the Rio Rancho Astronomical Society.

The festivities will begin at 5 p.m. April 29 at the Rainbow Park Observatory, behind Rainbow Pool, at 301 Southern Blvd. There will be solar viewing (weather permitting), food and other activities. Dr. Jim Greenhouse, space science director at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, will speak on solar eclipses and how to view them safely at 6:30 p.m. Telescopes will also be available for public stargazing after the meeting, weather permitting.
