The New Mexico Philharmonic returns to Rio Rancho Saturday for its “Sky Room Labor Day Weekend Community Concert.”

The 7:30 pm. concert is the second — an Independence Day celebration led the way — outdoor NMPhil event that will take place at the new Sky Room, an outdoor performing arts space at Campus Park.

“Campus Park is a wonderful addition to our city and will increase the quality of life for the people living in Rio Rancho,” said Mayor Gregg Hull. “It is a great honor to host the New Mexico Philharmonic and celebrate the Labor Day weekend and this new facility.”

The concert will be conducted by conductor Roger Melone and include works by John Phillip Souza, LeRoy Anderson, John Williams and others. Melone was previously resident conductor and chorus director of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra.

Admission to the concert is free. Seating will be on the lawn.
