John Bressette, 27, of Las Cruces, was arrested for receiving or transferring stolen motor vehicles, trafficking, possession of a controlled substance and receiving stolen property Oct. 18 on El Punto Court.

Officers located stolen motor vehicle on El Puno Court, then spotted Bressette enter the driver seat of the vehicle several times and detained him.

Bressette told police he got the vehicle and key from a man named Mike, who stated the car was his and gave it to him. However, no key was located, and the registered owner is a woman.

Inside the passenger area of the vehicle, officers found a black bag with approximately 22.4 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine and 32 blue M30 pills suspected of being fentanyl, which are both amounts above what is considered personal use.

They also found a laptop and two notebooks that were reported as stolen property with the vehicle.

Trafficking meth is a federal crime. If convicted, Bressette could face anywhere from five years to life in prison.
