The job growth is part of Intel Corps’ plans to invest the $3.5 billion in Rio Rancho to make advanced semiconductor packaging technologies, including Foveros, the company’s 3D packaging technology.

The multiyear investment is expected to create at least 700 high-tech jobs and 1,000 construction jobs and support an additional 3,500 jobs in New Mexico.

Intel spokeswoman Linda Qian said the average pay at Intel is around $145,000 a year, including salary, benefits and bonuses.

In 2020, Intel invested more than $290 million in capital in New Mexico. The company also hired 82 new employees and has a goal of 60 percent hiring of New Mexico residents, according to the Intel New Mexico RISE report.

That year Intel’s New Mexico hires accounted for 43 percent of total hires, falling short. As a result Intel will pay $100,000 to the states work force development.

Since 1995, the company’s average is overall is more than 61 percent, the report said.
