The Corrales Historical Society and its docents are hosting their annual Mudding and Spring-Cleaning Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Historical Old San Ysidro Church, as the adobe building needs regular care.
They invite volunteers of all ages to come help.
Highlights for volunteers this year include:
- Learning to mix and apply adobe plaster on the courtyard walls.
- Cleaning up the surrounding grounds and weeding the flower beds.
- Putting a fresh coat of paint on the window surrounds.
Volunteers will be treated to lunch prepared by the docents, including sandwiches and sweet treats. Early birds get coffee and doughnuts.
Community members can also check out the new floor at the church, 966 Old Church Road, Corrales.
Participants are advised to wear sunscreen, clothes that can get dirty, gloves and a hat. People who have a shovel, rake or trowel should bring it along.
