It’s getting easier for Rio Rancho residents to get free at-home COVID-19 tests.

Residents can order them online or pick them up at local pharmacies.

The New Mexico Department of Health in a press release said households can obtain four free tests that will be shipped in seven to 12 days by clicking on COVIDtests.gov.

In zip codes where infection rates were unusually high, residents can click on Accesscovidtest.org for five free tests. Those will be shipped in two to five days.

The health department has made it easier for residents to access tests by going to FindaTestNM.org, and entering their zip code to see different test options.

Clicking on the link reveals that tests are available at CVS Health, Walgreens and Walmart. A map of the sites is included.

For those without internet access, call the NMDOH hotline at 1-855-600-3455.

“Knowing if you have COVID-19 can help you seek proper treatment and prevent you from spreading the virus to your family and community,” the department said in the statement.

About 2 million free at-home COVID-19 tests are being distributed in New Mexico communities while supplies last.

For a person who is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and need a test immediately, find a nearby PCR laboratory test location at FindaTestNM.org.
