The Arizona Rattlers improved to 3-0 on the season after a convincing win over the host Duke City Gladiators on the evening of April 2.

The Rattlers beat the Gladiators (0-3) for the second time this season, winning 43-21. With that win, Arizona improved to 5-0 in franchise history against the Gladiators.

A week after going 10-for-11 on pass attempts, Rattlers quarterback Drew Powell seemed locked in again, going 15 of 18 for 167 yards with four TD passes. He also chipped in with 27 rushing yards on seven carries.

Duke City led the Rattlers 7-6 after a 9-yard TD pass from QB Caleb Holbrook to Jared Elmore and Cody Barber’s point-after.

The Rattlers scored four of the game’s next five touchdowns to put the game out of reach, plus the final two TDs for their 22-point win.

Holbrook was just 9 of 30 passing for 101 yards and three TDs, plus two interceptions, one of which was returned for a TD.

Barber was 0 for five on field goal attempts, with one miss returned for a score.

The Gladiators are back in the Rio Rancho Events Center Saturday to face the Bay Area Panthers (1-3) at 6:05 p.m. and home again April 16 to meet the Tucson Sugar Skulls.
