Albuquerque – The public is invited to Solar Fiesta 2022 and EV Show, a free event, with free parking, organized by the New Mexico Solar Energy Association (NMSEA), in the Cornell Mall area of the University of New Mexico (UNM) campus by the Student Union Building

The event will be on June 24, from 9 am – 3 pm. Free parking in “R/E” lots at the Southeast corner of UNM off Central Ave NE and Girard Blvd NE.

This family-oriented event, which occurs in partnership with the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) national, week-long Solar 2022 Conference at UNM, will feature scores of exhibits and a free comprehensive “Solar Energy 101” workshop – see description below as well as hands-on activities for kids with Explora! and other groups. Representatives from a wide variety of solar companies, educators, researchers & nonprofits will be on hand to answer questions regarding installing solar on homes or businesses, EV chargers and batteries, grid modernization, and future proofing for climate change. A giant solar oven will be on hand with the “Solar Chef” to discuss how to cook with solar, and examples of other solar cookers from a Minnesota museum will be on display.

The EV Show, organized by 350 New Mexico, will feature more than 10 cars & trucks and the opportunity to chat directly with their owners. There will also be NMSEA’s new version of its “SunChaser,” a solar educational trailer built by the ACE Leadership High School students and designed by NM Tech students, along with UNM’s “Solar Splash” solar-powered boat and electric race cars and their student teams. Albuquerque city’s sustainability experts will show off their new Electric Bus and talk about EV and energy plans for the city.
