The first-ever Bands Across the Rio marching band competition is set for Saturday at Rio Rancho High School.

Twenty-seven bands, including Cleveland High School, from across the state will compete. The RRHS marching band is the exhibition band for the competition and will close the event with a performance at 5 p.m. Cleveland is competing for the Class 5A title, which features bands with 101 or more members. The Storm Regiment Marching Band performs at 4:45 p.m.

The first performance is scheduled for 8 a.m. Tickets are $5 if purchased prior to the event and $10 at the door for adults, $5 for children age 5 and up, those age 4 and under are free, and students from any school can enter free of charge by presenting their student ID.
