Bernalillo County – Bernalillo County and the City of Albuquerque will kick-off the upcoming keepNMalive fentanyl awareness campaign with a used syringe pickup outreach in Downtown Albuquerque.
- What: Syringe and needle pickup
- Where: Meet at Second Street and Tijeras Avenue, NW
- When: Oct. 12, 2 – 3:30 p.m.
The used syringe pickup outreach is a collaborative effort between Bernalillo County Behavioral Health Services, City of Albuquerque community safety, and volunteers who walk through areas to pick up used syringes and distribute water and naloxone kits to those on the street who may need them.
The outreach team will bring all necessary supplies, such as gloves, grabbers, and sharps containers for those who wish to learn and participate.
“Discarded syringes and needles are just an unfortunate byproduct of certain substance use,” says Bernalillo County Behavioral Health Services Director Margarita Chavez. “This is an excellent learning experience for all citizens and a chance to find out how to get a needle pickup in your area.”
