I was shocked and dismayed to learn that a scant few weeks after the county commissioners acceded to public objections to the wild horse feeding ban in their March 22 vote this ordinance has been resurrected.
I was present at that meeting and a wide range of considerations were voiced, yet none of the objections I heard have been addressed in this zombie ordinance. No period of public comment has been announced. In particular, the residents of Placitas, the area most affected, have been ignored.
The county commission’s outsized powers are matched by a troubling lack of transparency.
