“The grand opening of the new Defined Fitness Hilltop Club on Jan. 2 marked a significant moment in Defined Fitness history as our first club opening in January in what we anticipate to be our largest year of growth in our 34-year history,” Defined Fitness Director of Marketing Maria Lamar said.
The new facility serves the Albuquerque and Rio Rancho communities and is the company’s largest club to open in the last four years it they continues an expansion plan announced in 2019.
According to Lamar, the Hilltop Plaza club showcases a new aesthetic and layout, designed to elevate the overall member experience and feature the best in health club design.
It has the largest functional turf training area of any club in New Mexico and the biggest outdoor workout space available statewide.
The goal, according to Lamar, is to create an environment made for people at all fitness levels.
The facility features a large group exercise studio, cycling room, recovery room with hydro-massage beds, team training studio featuring heart rate-based training, expanded kids club with play structure, large and open free-weight and cardio areas, saunas in both the men’s and women’s locker rooms, a pool and a hot tub.
“We are enthusiastic about the growth we are seeing following four successful club openings. It is a testament to the importance of fitness in our communities across New Mexico and our continued commitment to the health and fitness of the state of New Mexico,” Lamar said.
Through its expansion, Defined Fitness created 400 new jobs for New Mexicans and employed hundreds more who worked on the construction of the new clubs.
October marked the company’s 34th year as a locally owned and operated business in New Mexico.
With the addition of the Hilltop Club, Defined Fitness has eight locations serving the Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Farmington and Santa Fe markets.
“Defined Fitness has been located in Rio Rancho for over 20 years, but the relocation and re-imagining of the Hilltop location and the new Enchanted Hills location is based on the growth of the communities west of the Rio Grande and feedback from the Rio Rancho community that expanded Defined Fitness options were desired,” Lamar said.
