I was waiting for it, and the time finally came. This week, I was asked by a wonderful family to try the humongous cinnamon roll from Rise + Roast.
I hate to break it to y’all, but I have eaten it before.
I work at a school close to Rise + Roast, and every time I’ve had a long day, I treat myself to one of their signature cinnamon rolls.
I’m there a lot. I love working with kids, but I’m certain I will have gray hairs very soon.
I was happy to eat one again and share my experience with you all.
Rise + Roast is a New Mexican business with two locations: one in Albuquerque on Eubank, and one in Rio Rancho on Unser. Rise + Roast offers top-shelf coffee, fresh and seasonal donuts, smoothies and more.
Want to know something cool? They have a dog photo wall inside. That’s right! Bring your dog through the drive-thru and get a Polaroid of your dog on the wall. They call it the “Puppy Collage.”
But I came for one thing, and one thing only: the cinnamon roll. So, when I walked through those doors, I ordered only the cinnamon roll … and like 12 other donuts because they looked irresistible.
Yes, I gave into temptation. However, it is only acceptable to give into temptation when it involves donuts. That’s the golden rule.
They served me up, and boy did they look magnificent as usual! Side note, the customer service is always exceptional. Every time I come in, they are attentive and very gracious.
The cinnamon roll ($2.59) is as big as Texas, glazed and has the essence of a gourmet honey bun. The Rise + Roast cinnamon roll looks like a cross between a donut and a classic cinnamon roll.
I must have eaten it in about five minutes, and I enjoyed every second of it.
It was sweet, and flavorful. The cinnamon dough was fresh, and rich. The light glaze was amazing. I ate the entire thing with a glass of milk. What more could I want in my life?
My family enjoyed the other donuts that I bought ($22 for the dozen), and everyone was in paradise. Well, except for me. Don’t get me wrong, the donuts were sublime, but the Denver Broncos gave up a huge lead to the Washington Commanders.
It is tough being a Broncos fan but not a Rise + Roast fan. Treat yourself, and head on over now. You deserve it.
