COVID cases are still dropping in New Mexico.

According to the New Mexico Department of Health, 440 new cases and 16 more COVID deaths were recorded Wednesday. The seven-day test positivity rate was 7 percent.

Those numbers are the lowest since last fall.

On Wednesday, 236 individuals were hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19.

Also, the state has 468,114 COVID-19 cases designated as recovered by the Department of Health.

The Department of Health on Wednesday reported sixteen additional deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19:
Eleven recent deaths:

A female in her 80s from Bernalillo County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
A male in his 50s from Bernalillo County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
A second male in his 50s from Bernalillo County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
A male in his 80s from Bernalillo County.
A second male in his 80s from Bernalillo County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
A male in his 90s from Bernalillo County.
A male in his 50s from Chaves County. The individual was hospitalized.
A female in her 80s from Luna County. The individual had underlying conditions.
A male in his 80s from San Juan County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
A female in her 70s from Taos County. The individual was hospitalized.
A male in his 80s from Valencia County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.

Five deaths > 30 days:

A female in her 30s from Bernalillo County. The individual had underlying conditions.
A male in his 30s from Bernalillo County. The individual was hospitalized.
A male in his 70s from Bernalillo County.
A male in his 60s from Eddy County. The individual was hospitalized and had underlying conditions.
A female in her 30s from San Juan County.

Correction: Upon further investigation, two deaths reported 1/20 in Curry County and 2/17 in Bernalillo County were not due to COVID. They are: 1 death of a resident of Curry County: 1 female in 80s, underlying conditions; and 1 death of a resident of Bernalillo County: 1 male in 80s, no underlying conditions

The number of deaths of New Mexico residents related to COVID-19 is now 6,939. COVID-related deaths are reported when a death certificate has been issued and some death certificates are delayed due to insufficient information.
