It’s been more than eight months since New Mexico’s seen fewer than 90 statewide hospitalizations for COVID-19.

The state reached that point on Monday, with the New Mexico Department of Health reporting 85 people hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19. Nine of those individuals were on ventilators Monday.

The last time the state reported fewer than 90 hospitalizations for COVID-19 was July 15, 2021. The state saw 86 such hospitalizations that day.

NMDOH also reported Monday there were 331 new COVID-19 cases and 13 new COVID-19 deaths over the prior three days. The state’s test positivity rate for that time frame was 2.1 percent.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases is 517,521, while the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths is 7,219.
