The number of reported COVID-19 hospitalizations in New Mexico dropped back down considerably on Friday, despite the latest new case count and test positivity rate still trending upward.

The state Department of Health reported Friday there are currently 37 people hospitalized in New Mexico for COVID-19, with zero patients on ventilators. NMDOH also reported 323 new cases (with a test positivity rate of about 3.9 percent) and nine new COVID-19 deaths on Friday.

Since the start of the pandemic, New Mexico’s tallied 523,940 total COVID-19 cases and 7,556 total COVID-19 deaths.
