Balloons over Paseo Del Norte 8:20 am.(Michaela Helean/Observer)

Listen to the weather

Today is a significantly colder day and rain is still sticking around.
Albuquerque National Weather Service says, “The cool and wet pattern continues especially along and west of the central mountain chain today with scattered to numerous storms expected.”
Luckily, this morning was just still enough for Balloon Fiesta to let the balloons take off. The cold air is denser and provides an easy flight.  Though, it does mean the balloons will land much faster because the propane doesn’t last as long in colder weather.
Hopefully, the balloonists are just as lucky for the rest of the week.
Today
There is a 50% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms. It will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 71 and a low around 52.
Happy Tuesday!
