The city of Rio Rancho is inviting all foodies to Cabezon Park Saturday for its inaugural Food Truck Fiesta.

Th event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature more than a dozen food trucks.

The Cabezon Community Center staff had an idea for an event to bring people together and the Food Truck Fiesta was born.

“The idea of this event came from the Cabezon Community Center staff to bring the community together with something everyone loves – food,” City of Rio Rancho Communications Specialist Jaley Turpen said. “With the weather cooling down, staff thought it would be a good time to coordinate a new type of event.”

“I am very excited to add this event to the slate of activities citizens can enjoy in Rio Rancho,” Mayor Gregg Hull said. “Food trucks have become a major  part of most of our events, and this stand-alone event, for the trucks, gives us the opportunity to showcase the vast variety of food options that are available.”

Admission is free and the food trucks will offer burgers, pizza, tacos, lemonade frozen treats, barbecue, hot dogs, sweets and more.

“There have been food truck events in the past held at Balloon Fiesta Park, so this is a chance to try a variety of food trucks right here in Rio Rancho,” Turpen said. “As of (Wednesday), there have been 18 food trucks scheduled to attend the event, so attendees will be able to experience a variety of food options. With the temperature in the 70s, it will be a nice day to get out to Cabezon Park with the family and enjoy some different food options.”
