The city of Rio Rancho’s Financial Services Department has been recognized for its budget document for the 17th consecutive year by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting.

The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award recognizes the budget for the current fiscal year ending June 30. It had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for an effective budget presentation that includes serving as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device.

The resolutions that would adopt the infrastructure and capital improvement plan as well as the balanced budget for the fiscal year 2024 were accepted and passed by city council at the May 25 meeting.
