The Rio Rancho Citizens’ Police Academy is now open for registration.
“The Citizens’ Police Academy is designed to give our citizens an in-depth look into the Rio Rancho Police Department, showing all the ways in which we proudly serve our community. Students will receive classroom instruction by personnel from many police department divisions including presentations and demonstrations K-9, SWAT, and Criminal Investigations to name a few,” states a release.
Upon completion of the course, students are given the opportunity to complete a four-hour ride-along with an RRPD officer, which brings all of the topics discussed to real life.
The 11-week course begins March 5 at police headquarters, 500 Quantum Road. It is open to Rio Rancho residents and/or business owners at not cost and is limited to 30 students per session. Participants must be at least 18 years old to apply. Those with violent criminal history and/or felonies will be denied. The application deadline is March 1.
