Albuquerque — Christmas tree cutting permits for the Magdalena, Mountainair and Mt. Taylor Ranger Districts will go on sale at district offices on Mon., Nov. 7th – thru Fri., Dec 30th.
Permits will also be available for online purchase through the Recreation.gov for trees, which also lists details about designated cutting areas, maps, dates, and size of trees that may be cut. Information can also be found on the Cibola NF & NG Christmas tree webpage. A small processing fee will be applied to the Recreation.gov online transaction.
Cutting period for permit holders will be from Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25th thru Dec. 31st. Each permit is good for one Christmas tree, two trees per household may be purchased. The cost is $10.00 for up to a 10 foot tree, $12.00 for up to a 12 foot tree and $15.00 for up to a 15 foot tree. The maximum height allowed is 15 feet.
The Cibola National Forest & National Grasslands is pleased to announce that all fourth graders are eligible for a free Christmas tree permit through the Every Kid Outdoors initiative. Every Kid Outdoors is a nationwide call to action to connect kids to nature. All fourth graders are eligible to receive an Every Kid Outdoors pass that allows free access to federal lands and waters across the country for a full year. To be eligible for a free Christmas tree permit, the Every Kid Outdoor pass code must be provided at the time of purchase.
