With just days to the Nov. 8 mid-terms, President Joe Biden came to Albuquerque Thursday to rally support for Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and other Democratic party candidates.

“You know, Michelle said she thinks she’s the smallest governor…but I think you are the tallest governor,” Biden said.

Hundreds of people crowded the Ted M. Gallegos Community Center to hear him talk. Many were unaware, however, that they would be there for a few hours before Biden took the stage.

One veteran from Enchanted Hills said she feels more positive about being a Democrat after hearing him speak.

“I am a veteran and I think it’s great that he is coming here to show his support. He’s got this whole workbench of issues that he’s ready to work on,” said Laura Myrtle of Rio Rancho.

But Biden didn’t just show his support for the governor.

He also talked about her opponent, Mark Ronchetti.

“Abortion rights will go away if your governor’s opponent wins,” he said.

Congressman Ben Ray Lujan also called out Ronchetti.

“I think this guy is confused because first he was against abortion, then for it, now against it,” he said. “What is it?”

Ronchetti states in his political ad: “I’ve made my position clear. End late-term abortion and protect access to health care.”

However, he does not define “late term.”

Ronchetti, meanwhile, is on his own  tour of New Mexico to rally support, hitting all the cities. Saturday, he will be in Carlsbad at 1 pm at 502 N Main St.

Lujan Grisham gave fellow democrats in the crowd a talking to about voting.

“We are a little behind, but we are going to catch up fast,” she said.
