Inclement Weather Delays

During inclement weather, it is sometimes necessary to delay the start of the school day.

These delays allow time for snowy or icy roads to thaw, improving safety for buses and for parents/guardians and students driving to school.

An abbreviated day begins two hours later than the regular schedule.

Bus schedules are also delayed two hours whenever a school delay is issued.

Information on school delays or cancellations is posted to the Rio Rancho Public Schools website at www.rrps.net and provided to parents through the district’s emergency notification system and social media.  Local TV stations including KOB 4, KOAT 7, and KRQE 13 and the 770 KKOB AM radio station also broadcast school delays and cancellation information. You can also get it online at the Observer web site: rrobserver.com
