School Lunch Information

The Free and Reduced Price Meals Application will be required for the 2022-23 School Year.

The Covid-19 pandemic waivers that provided school districts with much needed freedom to distribute food to kids free of charge during the school year expired on June 30. These waivers were put in place in March 2020 to give families in need access to free meals when schools were closed early in the pandemic and were extended through last school year.

While a portion of the waivers were extended through the 2022-23 school year, they do not include free meals for all families. Once again, families will be charged for school lunches unless they qualify for free or reduced price meals under the National School Lunch Program or if they attend a school that has been designated as a school under the Community Eligibility Provision.

Meal Costs:

  • Breakfast: $1.45 elementary/$1.70 secondary
  • Lunch: $2.85 elementary/$3.00 secondary

Free Meals:

  • Option 1: All students who qualify for free or reduced meals under the National School Lunch Program will receive free meals. To see if you qualify for free meals or to access an application, please visit our website at https://www.rrps.net/page/food-services. It is important that families complete these application forms as soon as possible. If you do not have access to a printer, an online application can be found at https://family.titank12.com/.
  • Option 2: All students who attend Puesta del Sol Elementary School, Colinas del Norte Elementary School, Rio Rancho Elementary School, Maggie Cordova Elementary School, Eagle Ridge Middle School or Independence High School will receive free breakfast and lunch at school during the school year. Students at these schools receive free meals as part of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP) through a choice for schools called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). Families at these schools that qualify for free or reduced meals still need to complete the application at https://www.rrps.net/page/food-services in order for these schools to continue to receive important federal funding. If you do not have access to a printer, an online application can be found at https://family.titank12.com/.
