Local abstract artist Dianna Shomaker is exhibiting her art at Placitas Community Library from Jan. 7 through Feb. 2 in the Gracie Lee Community Room, during regular library hours.
The public artist’s reception is set for 5-6:30 p.m. Jan. 20 at the library.
Then, at 2 p.m. Jan. 22, Shomaker will lead a hands-on activity, “Understanding Abstract Art.”
The workshop is meant to lead attendees “to ideas that can become a guide for understanding an abstract’s internal consistency and grace,” according to information from the library. “Abstract art doesn’t have to be your love, but just stand back and ask some questions that will illuminate what’s worthy within it. Bring your open mind and explore a new way of appreciating art.”
The library is at 453 NM 165. For more information, visit placitaslibrary.com or call 505-867-3355.
