An arrest was made in the homicide of 15-year-old Alexander Jackson who was shot multiple times at the former golf course in Rio Rancho.

On Friday night, Rio Rancho Police arrested 18-year-old Richard Cresap for homicide and tampering with evidence, according to Lt. Richard Koschade.

Jackson was pronounced dead on the property of Club Rio Rancho after officers responded to a call of shots fired around 7 p.m., March 10.

“This is a tragic event for the victim, the family of the victim, and the people in our community,” Koschade said. “This incident impacts our entire city. We are working to provide accurate information and to conduct a thorough investigation, which can take time, so we ask for the public’s patience and cooperation as we do so. It is the priority of the Rio Rancho Police Department to continue to provide for the safety of our community.”
