Homicide detectives are investigating after two cars crashed into each other and one of the drivers died from a gunshot wound.

Officer Daren DeAguero, an Albuquerque Police Department spokesman, said around 6:20 p.m. officers were called to the area of 14th and Marquette NW, near Downtown, for a head-on crash.

“Officers arrived and discovered the driver of one of the vehicles (appeared) to have a gunshot wound,” DeAguero wrote in an email. “This individual later (succumbed) to his injury.”

He said the area would be closed during the investigation. DeAguero did not provide any other information on the incident.
