Village of Corrales release

For over three decades, the Village of Corrales has celebrated Harvest Festival.

This year, the festival has gone virtual. Activities are underway at corralesharvestfestival.com

The race for Pet Mayor has 12 candidates: eight dogs, a cat, a guinea pig and two mini-donkeys. Pets have pictures and platforms.

Online voting runs through 7 p.m. Oct. 31, with the winner announced Nov. 1. Prizes for are provided by the Village Mercantile.

The Pet Parade is virtual and a chance to show off the varied pets in and around Corrales. Sign up online, pay the entry fee of $2 and then post a 15-20 second video.

The theme is “Our COVID Heroes,” highlighting first responders, nurses, doctors, store clerks or any role the pet owners consider heroic during the pandemic. Or just show the pet parading around the yard. The Pet Parade benefits Corrales Animal Service.

New in 2020 is the Pumpkin Palooza pumpkin-decorating contest. Show off a jack-o-lantern or decorated pumpkin, elegant or scary.

Five age categories apply with prizes for best of show, and the pumpkins with the most online votes win. Mention the Pumpkin Palooza for a 20 percent discount on a pumpkin from Wagner Farm Store.

Details and entry forms are on the website. The Kiwanis Key Clubs from Rio Rancho and Cibola high schools designed and receive proceeds from the contest.

Casa San Ysidro has virtual interactive content for viewers to learn about traditional artists and their art. Take a virtual tour of the museum, watch a traditional storyteller, see a blacksmith work iron, learn to bake in an horno and more.

The Kiwanis Club of Corrales is sponsoring the 36th annual festival.
