Alex Zannes has joined the Albuquerque office of Colliers New Mexico-El Paso as an associate broker.

He recently returned to New Mexico after serving in a variety of roles over seven years in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Zannes will be joining a team of market leaders and professionals with decades of experience in commercial real estate.

After finishing his degree at the University of New Mexico (UNM), Zannes began his career in Albuquerque as a sports intern with KRQE Channel 13, moving on to KOB Channel 4 as a sports reporter. During his time in Hawaii, he worked as a reporter for the local news, moving on to become the communications director for the Mayor of Honolulu, and then on to lead communications for the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce.

His experience in government and the non-profit sector gave him a front row seat to the way communities can be transformed when local businesses are given a chance to develop and thrive. “It’s my hope that I can play a role in highlighting Albuquerque as a great place to live and work,” said Zannes.

As communications director for the Mayor of Honolulu, Zannes worked with state, federal, and local officials to keep the public informed of the ever-changing Covid-19 pandemic landscape, including attending regular teleconferences with the governor and island mayors. During his tenure as a reporter, he covered everything from the local city council to the false missile alert that made news around the world.
